To all those who think the WT uses deliberate "subliminal" images...
by marmot in(okay, i know i said i'd be taking a break from jwd, and i will, but i just remembered something that i felt necessary to post here because it was bugging me) .
there are some of you out there who believe the governing body meticulously crafts subliminal images that are hidden throughout the society's literature.
you say that it is impossible for these to be mere accidents or just the work of sloppy artists because there is so much painstaking review and every image must be approved by the gb before being published.

Are you a happy ex-JW?

kind of like the atheist group who's members blaspheme against the holy spirit.

Well I just think it would bee good for people to be able to see actual real life JW's saying they are fine with their decision. I know when I discuss things with my Mom she always says, "you can't see if people are people on the net". Then after seeing that atheist site it made me think that it could work really well for a site like this, or a community in general.

Went to the grocery store and...
by Cindi_67 ini went to the grocery store on sunday and there was a lady in front of us paying for her purchase.
i believe she was a witness because the clerk asked if she had a good thanksgiving and she said " oh, i don't celebrate thanksgiving, but had a nice day off.
i just needed to tell somebody..

My parents always said it was OK to wish people a happy holiday. Just don't single out one event. It's always seemed self righteous to me to just come out and advertise you don't celebrate anything.

Everyone non-JW I have told about has been shocked and disgusted. I told my Mom and simply said that Barbara let the court documents speak for themselves and that was that. I think I have planted the seeds with her and my brother.

Haha true that Outlaw. A Lowes from around here printed a ad saying they had a sale on "Winter trees" which were just Christmas trees and everyone got bent out of shape. I was thinking how a bunch of dubs would say, "we bought one of those winter trees and we heard it's fun to put gifts under it! We're going to open them on the 26th!"

Pedophile in the hall

So even though two elders sit next too him and I suppose everyone knows he is a pedophile, this isn't enough? I have a problem with them hiding and shielding pedos but it sounds like they are doing neither in this case. Your rushing to judgment when there really is no reason to.

Apostate Presence Rattles World Conference on Religion
by SickofLies ini know many of you probably never saw my post a few days ago inviting everyone to the world religions conference where i was a key note speaker.
i'd like to send a big thank you to kwintestal and mincan for showing and giving their support, surfice to say it made quite an impression that the three people standing up and defending atheism at the event were all ex-witnesses.
the theme for the event was on the topic of morals and modesty.

I think Southpark summed it up the best. If the whole world was atheist you would have factions of different atheist trying to claim they had the correct view of atheism and probably killing each other for it. It's human. If your truly about being a human and nothing else why label yourself? I do think it is good that you were able to speak there and most of the people seemed to keep an open mind.
